Welcome to Academy ISD's website and this opportunity for the stakeholders of this District to share their thoughts and ideas with me. As many of you know my door is always open, but there are times when it is impossible to drop by or make an appointment. So, please feel free to use this forum to express to me your concerns as well as your kudos. I look forward to any opportunity that will allow us to become partners in the education of our young people.

Academy ISD Bond Issue
One of the first questions I would like to ask all of you is "Why do you think our recent bond issue failed?"; I would also like to know what we could have done differently to communicate the needs of our school children better.
In my opinion, the bond was seen as too much money all at once by many of the voters. However, the needs (especially the elementary school) are still very real and will only be more costly with time. Perhaps the next bond issue should be elementary school only and better graphics to show exactly how an average priced home's taxes would be impacted (e.g. how much of an increase per month since most pay taxes into escrow).
This blog is a great idea, but I just stumbled onto it looking for next year's calendar. Maybe you could use the "phone home" system to tell everyone about it?

Great idea regarding the use of our "School Messenger" system. Also, thank you for taking the time to comment on the bond issue question.
